MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – MACHINE DESIGN

Mexx Engineering is a specialist in innovative 3D design engineering, machinery automation solutions and turnkey robotic systems. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to developing solutions for clients in various industries such as, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, mining and more. Our objective at Mexx Engineering is to deliver successful products and project outcomes for our growing network of clients, including customers in Australia, Asia, North America and Europe.
THE ROLE
As a result of recent significant growth in the Engineering department a vacancy for a Mechanical Design Engineer is being offered for an initial period of up to 6 months from March 2011. This newly created position may become available on a permanant full time basis after a period of 6 months as continued growth in this department is anticipated.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will be involved in:
- Design engineering, including concept development, drafting, 3D design and detailing
- Project management of multiple projects at different stages
- Machine assembly, testing, commissioning and installation
- Post project customer support
Projects range from automation and robotic cells, integration of machine tools, and special purpose equipment, predominantly for manufacturers.
THE PERSON
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years experience in machine design or relevant engineering role. Experience in automation or manufacturing industry preferred but not essential.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated skills in mechanical engineering design, precision engineering, special purpose machine and mechanism design and assembly
- Experience in commonly used 3D CAD software, (Solid Edge, Solid Works or equivalent)
- Knowledge, pneumatics, power transmission systems, sensors and robotic based automation systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages
- Ability to work to deadlines and budgets
- Experience in development of machine manuals and documentation
- Demonstrated ability and experience in machine assembly, testing, commissioning and installation
- Ability to assist with prototyping, testing and design validation
- Ability to provide exceptional post project customer support
